A great team
saltlakecaro, 17:31h
I want to tell about the greatest team I’ve ever seen. The last months I spent every day with our basketball team. I watched them playing a great season, saw them winning and losing. But all the time there was never one player who wasn’t part of the team. Every single one of the worked hard at practice and supported each other. After we lost the region championship against Highland we went to the state tournaments to play in the first round against Odgen High. Our game was at 9:30 during school time. We drove about an hour to Weber State University and walked in through the team entrance. For a second everyone stood in the middle of the court and stared at the huge, empty arena. Then the guys changed in the locker room and started to warm up. I wrapped some feet and gave them their electrolytes. They were all so nervous and had a hard time to sit calm while I was working. Odgen had almost a home game. They had a huge orange student section, but we had also two fan busses organized and everyone got out of school for the game.
At 9:30 after the starters were announced the game started. We played with fear, we didn’t play our game and were down the first half by 10 points. But 80 seconds before the buzzer ended the first half we suddenly woke up .
Tanner
Carter
Jordan
Colton
With three steals we were back and almost up by one (it was out of bounce, so the last three pointer didn’t count).
The second half was our half. We played a great game that continual switched the lead between us and Odgen. When the buzzer ended the second half the scoreboard said 47-47. Overtime. Our guard Sam leaded the team. At one point he walked to Will and we could see that he told him something that gave Will a lot of confidence.
Will
Sam
The overtime was a thriller and was followed by a second overtime.
Colton cramped and the team brought it in to talk. After the second overtime it finally said 59-53. We won, because we were a team that fought for every ball and never gave up.
The days later we drove again to Weber State to face Woods Cross in the second round of the tournaments. We played them in our region and won and lost a game. Everyone was positive before the game and in a good mood.

When we arrived at the arena we could walk over the court because there were games before. We walked through the tunnel system to get to our locker room. Everyone talked and just followed JT who walked at the front. Well, nobody had a plan where we have to go and after a while Carter said: “Hey guys… that’s where we came in. We walked a full round…” We walked again and after half of the lab all the coaches stood laughing in front of the locker room and asked if the guys wanted to warm up before they changed.
The best student section of all.
The game started similar to the last one, only worse. We were down by 13 points and it looked like we had no chance to change that. At halftime the mood was down. But you should stop believing in this team before the game is over. During the second half we dominated. Slowly coming back and a few minutes before the end we finally were up! It was crazy. I think basketball games are increasing the risk for heart attacks. At least that was what I felt during many of the games. One minute to go we were up by one point. Twenty seconds before the end, Sam gets a 1-and-1, but missed. Woods Cross took the ball down and scored. Down by one we shoot, but the ball jumped of the rim and the buzzer ended our dreams. At this point the most impressive and emotional part starts. With the buzzer Sam broke down on the court and Tanner walked to him and talked to him.
Every face was full of pain.
Colton just stood on the court staring at some point far away. The next half an hour nobody talked much.
JT
Everyone waited quietly for the guys who were in the locker room. When the guys came out every one of them had a red swollen face and was crying.
I was very impressed by Sam who came to every trainer, parent and coach and thanked us for everything we did for the team.
The guys all laid down on the middle of the court. After a few minutes one started laughing and one by one everyone joined in. They stood up and got together for a last big hug and while they stand on the court everyone around them started clapping and crying with a smile on the face.
At the celebration banquet all seniors were asked to fill in a questionnaire. One of the question was: “What was your biggest disappointment?” I thought they all would write to lose against Woods Cross, but they stared at this question until Tanner said: “I don’t know what to write. This season had no
disappointments for me. Even when we lost, we gave our best and fought. Every moment was great.”

General Young Women Meeting
saltlakecaro, 15:59h
Last weekend I went to the general young women meeting with Allison. It was in the conference center and 20,000 young women and their Moms were there and many people watched it at home on their TV. Some leaders were talking and the choir sung and I met many of my friends there.

Defeated.. by our own parents :D
saltlakecaro, 15:46h
Last wednesday we played Pleasant Grove and won 13:1.
I scored my first goal! And played the full game as a D-Wing.
Yesterday we had a parent scrimmage. It was much fun. First everyone coached their parents and then the JV parents played against the Varsity parents.
JV won!
Then varsity played their parents and the parents won and we lost against our parents too.
But it was much fun. Last night we had a team sleepover and we had a great time. Varsity came and toilet papered our house.
